Orchard (Hoardings), 2016

Digital Print

Orchard (Hoardings) presents itself in the structure of an aerial view map. As the title suggests, the information gathered and depicted via the map deals with the transient notion of hoardings within Orchard Road, one of the famous shopping districts in Singapore. The process of mapping involves the everyday act of walking and observing as well as an investigation on the satellite imagery of the space. The work attempts to explore notions dealing with the Dérive and the Pyschogeography of Shopping (Guy Debord) whilst questioning the impermanence of everyday spaces.
